Hey art friends! Austin and I are celebrating the World Cup with one of our favorites, a cartoon soccer ball! Soccer (or football, depending on where you live) is the world’s most popular sport, and a soccer ball is such a fun shape to draw. We made ours kawaii-style with a tongue sticking out and motion lines like it’s flying through the air.
Art Supplies:
Pencil
Eraser
Markers
Marker paper
We start with the pencil to get our circle just right, then we draw a sneaky little geometry lesson inside, a soccer ball is actually made up of one pentagon in the middle and a bunch of hexagons around it. Once you’ve got the shapes, switch to markers to color in your ball. Add motion lines so it looks like your soccer ball is zooming, and try drawing your favorite team’s colors or a player kicking it!
