Hey art friends! Today, we’re drawing a cute kiwi bird, and this lesson is extra special because we’re going to practice sketching with a pencil before we go over it with markers. It’s a great introduction to planning your drawing with basic shapes first!

Using a pencil first is a really helpful skill because you can lightly sketch the main shapes and erase any mistakes before committing with your markers. The kiwi bird is perfect for practicing this since the body is basically a big round shape with a long beak. Try adding your own background too, like some ferns or trees, since kiwis live in the forests of New Zealand!
