In this tutorial, we’re exploring a different style that’s more graphical and cartoonish. I’ll guide you through the advanced steps:
1. Sketching the Main Shapes: We’ll begin by drawing all the main shapes with our pencil to establish the foundation of our Plant Monster.
2. Layering Color: Next, we’ll layer vibrant colors on top to bring our creature to life.
3. Inking the Lines: Finally, we’ll ink the lines with our black marker to make our artwork pop and give it that polished, cartoon look.

Art Supplies
This is a list of the supplies we used, but feel free to use whatever you have in your home or classroom.
- Black marker (or something to draw with)
- Paper (we use marker paper)
- Markers to color with. We use our Art For Kids Hub markers. You can purchase our 80 piece alcohol-based markers here.
- Colored pencils (sometimes we also use Prismacolor colored pencils)
