How To Fold An Origami Frog

I’ve done origami with my kids before, but it just occurred to me that we could include this on our site. Origami is the art of folding paper, right? And it completely fits under the category of sculpture!

One of my (and my kid’s) favorite things about origami, you only need paper to do it. On top of that, paper is one of the most portable art supplies ever…making origami one of the best activities for kids while traveling.

Materials

  • Origami paper (Use thick paper, like cardstock to make the frog jump higher)
  • Scissors

Bonus Info

What’s the difference between computer paper and origami paper? Traditional origami paper has a color or pattern on one side, white on the other. But, the biggest differnce (the one that matters the most) it’s thinner than most paper. This makes it easier to fold. Personally I think it’s great to use regular computer paper when your kids are first learning, but after they’ve used it for a while it is totally worth buying a small pack of origami paper.
