Hey art friends! Teryn and I are drawing a Cute Baby Elephant today, and we’re sharing this lesson on August 12 for World Elephant Day! Baby elephants are one of the sweetest animals on Earth, they’re curious, playful, and always close to their mommy and their herd.

Our baby elephant has sparkly kawaii eyes, big pink ears, a cute curly trunk. The trick to drawing a baby animal is to make the head extra big compared to the body!
Cool elephant facts: Baby elephants are called “calves.” African elephants have big fan-shaped ears (that look like the continent of Africa!), and Asian elephants have smaller rounded ears. Baby elephants weigh around 200 pounds when they’re born, and they can weigh up to 12,000 pounds as adults!
Personalization ideas: Draw the mama elephant right next to your baby, add a whole elephant herd, give your baby elephant a splash of water from his trunk, or add a savanna, jungle, or safari background.
