Hey art friends! Hadley and I are drawing Bean the Capybara getting ready for back-to-school today. Bean’s at a little desk with a bright idea, and you get to decorate it however you want.
Art Supplies:
Markers
Marker paper
Personalization ideas: Swap Bean’s light brown for any color you like, or add a little bow, hat, or backpack. Change the pencil case to pink, purple, blue, or your school colors, and swap the red apple for a snack, a name tag, books, or extra crayons. Give Bean a different expression, add eyelashes, skip the lightbulb or turn it into stars, or draw a whole row of Bean friends at their own desks.
For teachers and parents: This lesson is a great first-week bulletin board, a “what’s my bright idea” getting-to-know-you, or a classroom door display where every kid’s Bean shows their name and favorite school supply. It also pairs well with a back-to-school unit, fine-motor practice with simple shapes, and homemade welcome cards.
